The digital camera market is worth millions and the manufacturers are doing their best to fight for every available client, market segment and niche market. In the process we see many new cameras, accessories and software. Its always better and the hobbyist is constantly presented with arguments to upgrade or to improve.
Over the December break I briefly had the opportunity to try CS3, CS4 and Lightroom 2. All great software solutions but frankly said.....it is just to much. Before getting ready to mail me, if you have it and if you mastered it, please skip this paragraph.... I am talking to the person who has Elements and who are bombarded with arguments to upgrade and to “improve”.
Over the years and the months I have learned a lot on Photoshop Elements and I can honestly say its a great piece of software Adobe has developed for the hobbyist. I had the privilege to have most of them, version 2, 4, 5, 6 and right now I have Elements 7. The latter is definitely the best and its worth the upgrade to any of the previous versions.
It is powerful, it has a great RAW converter taken from the Pro version of Photoshop and their are many great Plug-ins you can download to add to the already awesome functionality. If I may advice you then I would say, stick with Elements, get Lightroom if you really think you want something better and get to know your software
Its fun to add programs like EasyHDR or EssentialHDR. I have a host of smaller programs, each having a specific task and each are a lot of fun using.
Does the....”Just to Much” also apply to the camera? Gents...and Ladies, most certainly it does. Our friends the manufacturers are working hard on their new products lines and its true, the new cameras are all exciting!! Was the older one exciting when it was launched? Again, most certainly YES!! My advice is, get to know it and you will oft take better pictures with the old you know well than with the new that has become just to much....
Have a great new Year and I look forward meeting you this year!!!!
